Project Overview:
Whole‑home first‑floor renovation focused on open‑concept living and custom craftsmanship.
The homeowners had lived in their home since 1999 and raised their family there. As their lifestyle evolved, they wanted to modernize the home, create a more open layout, and improve the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. To achieve this, we removed interior walls, installed large sliding glass doors to bring in natural light and extend the living space outdoors, and replaced all windows with energy-efficient models. Custom alder cabinetry added warmth and timeless style, with features like docking drawer outlets, deep pullout shelves, a built-in coffee bar, and a custom bar in the living room. The primary suite was transformed into a serene retreat with a walk-in shower, freestanding soaking tub, and spa-like finishes—resulting in a home that feels modern, functional, and refreshed while honoring its original charm.
Creating the open-concept layout required removing walls in a home with a complex truss system. We worked closely with a structural engineer to develop a framing plan that maintained structural integrity while achieving the clients’ vision. Installing the full-height sliding doors required raising the header and modifying additional walls for a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Other challenges included sourcing specialty hinges for Shaker cabinets and redesigning the coffee bar from an awkward overhead cabinet into a functional pull-out shelf. Structural and plumbing adjustments were also required. Interior walls were adjusted to preserve the open layout, and plumbing fixtures were relocated without disturbing the finished basement by rerouting through the subfloor and sealing with spray foam. Careful planning and problem-solving ensured the renovation progressed smoothly while meeting the clients’ goals.
This remodel stands out for seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. The redesigned back wall and full three-panel slider system allow the living room to open completely to the outdoors, creating a gathering space that flows to the deck and future pool area. Inside, handcrafted and custom details—built-in entry cabinetry, a wood front door, Rev-A-Shelf pantry organizers, deep pullouts, and a custom coffee bar—enhance both function and style. The result is a home that feels fresh, functional, and uniquely personal to the clients.
